Just kidding...lol. Got DJ's heart up into his throat, I'll bet

Anyway...Anyone have brittle stars in their nano's? I've heard plenty about them being very good for your tank, although they'll mow over feather dusters.

I have not personally had a brittle star (imagine that in my little tank!!!) but i have known people who had them and had nothing but bad experiences. Knocked things over all the time and ate the fish in the tank. :x

I have had them in my Mini Bow for 1.5 years, with no problems at all.

1=4-5" and a bunch of little ones. They were all hitchhikers. :)

Karita - You might be referring to Serpent stars, brittle stars are skinny little guys.

I had this green brittle star (at least thats what dr.foster&smith called it) in my 20 for almost a year. He was a huge pain and always knocked over my frags. He also ate 2 of my fish. He was small when I got him but was prob. about 6-7" by the time he became a nuisance. I finally traded him in. Not recommended by me :x .

Although many sites will say that green brittle stars are reef-safe, the definition of reef-safe seems to be that they won't eat your corals. They will however knock them all over the place, and eat as many of your fish as they can catch. And they're good at it. I lost 3 fish before I caught my reef-safe brittlestar in the act of catching the 4th fish. I managed to get the 4th fish away from the star in about 30seconds, but it already had a hole in it's side, and died soon afterwards. I definitely don't recommend these ones. The red or brown ones don't seem to be agressive the same way at all, and I've kept them in my tanks with no issues.
