Here are some new pics of some of my corals...mostly Zoanthids.

I also included a new FTS... I'm not really satisfied with the arrangement (when are we ever), but it will do for now.

Here is a pic of a new frag I picked up at my LFS...

This is a pic of some of my zoas...those pinks are from Eddie's tank. They are doing great.

This is sort of the Zoa region of my tank...

Here are the babies...

And here is the new baby...

He is a ~1.5" baby T. Maxima clam. He wasn't exactly an "impulse buy" (I've been looking into clams for a long time, heck, that is why I installed a MH fixture), but I couldt pass him up. As always, pictures don't do colors any justice. He hasn't completely opened yet, but he is extremely responsive to stimuli and is free from PM's and is already attaching to some rubble that I placed just below the sand for him. He is doing great so far.

Overall, my tank is doing wonderfully. My nitrites are <5, nitrates are 0, ammonia 0, pH is 8.0, temp is always between 79.0 and 8, KH is at 200-250 ppm. I havent tested my Ca, but I will be getting a test kit soon because of the clam.

I want to keep these numbers stable, so instead of feeding the clam in the tank, I will be bowl-feeding him with phytoplex and cyclopeeze, as well as other filterfeeder foods.

Thanks for reading,

Jesse

I noticed you said you installed the MH fixture so you could keep the clam. Clams this size (usually less than 2 1/2 to 3 inches) need to be target fed phytoplankton because they don't have enough zooxanthellae in their mantles to produce enough food to sustain themselves. I don't know if you were aware of this or not but I thought it would be a good thing to put in this post.

very nice........got a new full tank shot by chance???????
yea your bowl feeding method should work, i tried some baby clams last aug niether one made it a month :( so i won't be trying that again...
i know that dr f+s do exactly what you are talking about at their farm though. the baby clams are housed in tupperwares that sit in the main raceway tanks - at feeding time they lift the tub out then feed phyto (live i think ie "green water"), give them time to eat, then return the tub to the raceway to clean out excess. a good method of target feeding but very proactive, just like sun corals.......only for those willing to devote the time to them.
my larger clams 4 and 5" seem to be doing just great on MH light and what they catch in the tank on their own.
i know you know this jesse but i thought it would be a good time to mention for those reading your post and considering a clam as an option.........

Sorry guys...I did not not mean for this to be a new thread...I messed up. I reposted this in my other thread, There is a link in my signature. Any responses could be posted there.

Thanks for all you compliments. Skip, I am bowl feeding him as well as adding phyto and chromaplex to the main tank sparingly. I also feed cyclopeeze to the whole tank now as well...twice per week. I am keeping a daily eye on the water levels, and so far nothing has change with the additional feedings.

John/Dawn...you are making me nervous. I would hate to lose this guy. Do you know any reasons as to why yours may have died? Anything you can share from your experience with babies?

I will be posting an updated FTS in my main thread.
