Probably. Tubes have very strong stings. But it depends on how sensitive the feather dusters crown is. That I don't know.

oh yeah, in a small nano sized tank, a tube anemones tentacles will reach all over the tank and, as incysor mentioned, they are really powerful stingers. Tube worms (feather dusters), on the other hand, are nearly powerless and would definately be stung by the tentacles of the cerianthus. Also, bear in mind that cerianthus need regular feedings as theyre non photosynthetic. They can and often do catch fish to feed themselves.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I know they pack a powerful sting. I will not put them near the tube anemone. I might even get rid of this enemone as the clowns swim very carefully around it and the tank really is not big enough for this thing. I do spot feed it also.

I have two beautiful feather dusters, one white/brown the other brown/mauve. The brown one was being eaten by something and I don't know what. I only have snails and two ocellaris clowns, I am thinking it might be the clowns. Anyways i have moved it and today it threw its crown. The worm is still alive in there as I see it come to the opening all the time. I sure hope it will grow a new crown sometime soon.

These guys do get very large. I'd take some pics and see if you can sell it to someone locally before it outgrows your tank. What color is it? I've got an orange one, a purple one, and a pink one.

I think I've seen pics of your pink one incysor. That thing is a beauty!

We have an interesting thought going on here: can a feather duster's "crown" get stung and will it harm the actual worm?

My opinion would be no. I wouldn't think the filter feeding mechanisms on a duster can sense/feel a sting. It might very well irratite it (and thats reason enough to move the anemone) but I don't think it would effect the actual worm. Just my opinion but I could certainly be very wrong.

Any feather duster experts around? :-k
