Tru Vu 3.5 Nano...

Hey Reefers,

I finally cycled my 3.5 in my bedroom. I waited 2 months before adding my main specimens. It's still in it's early stages but I wanted to share my progress with you guys.

I am limited with lighting, I only have the coralite 18 watt power compact in the hood. I could've gone higer two 13 watts like sugar magnolia but was limited at the time with this one.

I have lots of Zoos in my tank and one pair of green mushrooms. I will be adding hopefully a small frag hammer at the very top. And I will be adding a small frag xenia.

I'd like to add some green star polyps since they are one of my favorite and as far as fish, I will be adding a huma huma trigger, j/k...

I'd like a sand sifting goby and maybe a strawberry dottyback. If I don't go with fish, I will add as many little shrimp as I can get away with.

Let me know what you guys think of the pics, and any suggestions on small frags would be appreciated. I've read you can place rics in a 2.5, is that true, I thought they require lots of light.

Great pics. I love those mushrooms. Is the filter integral to the tank, like a nanocube, or do you have something hanging on the back of it? I haven't seen these tanks before, they look really cool.

Wow. Great little tank Mike. Where did you get it from? Do you have a website? Are they expensive?

You've really got some nice zoanthids in there! Great colour and variety. I'm with you on ricordias in that I believe they do like more light than most mushrooms.

You have been hiding this little project from us! :-$

Rics like most mushrooms differ on their light requirements. My orange, and pink rics seem to love the high light, but my blue, or green rics don't seem to tolerate it well. The light blue one in my little nano doubled in size then split, and the clone is larger than the orginal was under more lights. I definitely think there are some rics that you could keep in that tank. I'd just watch it closely, if it seems like it's shrinking, try more light, if it continues try less.

Hey Gang,

Thanks for the compliments on my nano. I fell in love with this tank when I saw it all decked out at one of my LFS. I purchased the tank, which is made of acrylic and added: EBO jagger 50 watt heater, 50/50 18 watt coralite, live sand and the live rock you see.

I waited about 2 months before adding any delicate animals. All I have are zoos and a couple mushrooms.

After seeing Dragons powerful lighting, I decided to remove the black canopy and I was able to add an extra 13 watt 7,500K daylight. There is a big difference in llighting now and my zoos are even more happy.

I do want to add some frags like hammer and maybe a torch. My tank looks a lot richer with the extra light, and you will see the pics soon. Compare them to the ones I posted to see the difference.

I did have to sacrafice the black canopy, but it still looks nice with the lighting on top, it has it's own canopy and sort of looks stock. (Very important to me).

way to go mikey

looks like a zoo-zuem in there :) Very colorful. Do you have a lot of small life in there? i do in the pico I got. They easy to spot. Just today alone I put in some mysis shrimp, and found that I have like 4 bristle worms, some big pods that came out and grabbed a piece, and hid back in the organ pipe. Very neat to see.

where did you find the Tru-Vu aquarium? I am looking at setting one up at work and trying to find a tank and this one looks to be the perfect size.
