After thinking my tank didnt have the problems with the corals dieing until i changed my lights. Does any one think I have to much light over my 20L? Since im redoing it I need some in put now. If i do then ill switch to maybe 2 96 watt pcs. Let know what you think. oh im running 300 watts vho. 3 actinic 75watt each and 1 10K 75 watt vho bulb. could i place a piece of screen material over the tank to cut some light?

If you just jumped into the new lights with no acclimation it's very possible you burned stuff. When I made the switch from 130w PC over my 75g to 440w VHO and 175w MH I cut my photoperiod from 10hrs down to 3 with just the VHOs. After a week I moved it up to 4hrs, then another week 5 hrs with one hour of MH, then another week and 6hrs with 2hrs of MH, etc...Until I got to my current photoperiod. Even doing it this slowly I managed to fry a couple corals. I really should have gone and gotten some egg crate and put several layers of screen material on top of it, then removed a couple pieces of screen each week instead.

Gradual climb in temps is always the safest route for your inhabitants and that means cutting down photoperiod until proper acclimation has been reached.

well every thing seemed to do fine. nothing died off until almost 2 months after i made the switch then every thing went south. no corals showed any illness. i never had a temp change either. my pcs where 2 inches from the water surface and my vhos are 5 from it plus i have fans. I think i had a 1 degree water change thats it. Just the intensity. Even corals i added that came from under MHs died.
