temperature

As always, I'm trying to plan ahead--so I'm trying to figure out which corals I may want to keep. I thought of staying mostly within a particular family of corals to decrease the amount of conflicting chemicals in the water. I particularly like the Caryophylliidae family (frogspawn, hammer, elegance, etc.).

My temperature seems to fluctuate between 79 and 81 degrees F. I am upgrading my lighting by a third, but with stronger cooling fans, I was told I would actually see a 1 to 2 degree drop (good news especially when summer comes).

Here's the kicker. I was told that Caryophylliidae, being from the Indo-Pacific, actually like temps of 80-83 degrees F. Maybe I'm ignorant, but I always thought anything would bite the dust or be uncomfortable beyond 82 degrees F. Has anybody heard this or even know what threshold I should be looking out for? This is just a shock to me, sorry if this is boring, lol. :strip

PS I got an orange turbo which seems to love the top of the tank and 4 nassarius sp* snails today. (am 0, ni 0, na 10 ppm, pH 8.0, SG 1.025)

My 90 gallon was kept at 82 and it did OK. I am now running my 29 gallon at 77-78 and I am noticing an improved reaction from my corals (including my frogspawns, bubble coral, and hammer corals). So for my corals they seemed to like the cooler temperatures.
