Teal sponge/leather???

I brought a picture into the local pet store and they said they think this is a leather, but also looks like a sponge. I was wondering if someone can tell me their opinion, I know it is early in the growth, but I am just curious. Thanks for your time.

Looks like a common sponge to me, harmless filter feeder IME.

It does look like a sponge. You'll notice over time that there can be many different colors as well as shapes of sponges that will just pop up in your tank.

It is very hard to tell from that picture, but let's not leave out the chance that it might be some sort of tunicate.....
