Tank Placement

Question for everyone... I am thinkin I am going to put my 10g on my kitchen counter, under the overhanging cabinets (in a corner) with a few inches clearance above the light... our counters are higher than any table i have to put the tank on and eliminates bending over to look into the the tank... anyone have any input? I have a Coralife PC 96w light on the clear legs over the tank...

The only issue is filter maintenance, gotta come up with a way to get to it easily since it will be inaccessible from where it is

Thats exactly where I placed my 2.5 in my old condo. It was on the kitchen counter underneath some cabinets. I kinda liked it but a 2.5 was a lot easier to pull out than a 10 gallon when I needed to do a WC or other maintenance.

These are all things to think about.

use a HOB refugium so you dont have to maintain the filter. Once in a while you will prune the macro. I have on on my 20L and im having one built one for my 7 gallon tank.

How easy will it be to get stuff in and out of the tank?
How easy will it be to get your hands in it to scrape the glass off?
How much sunlight does your kitchen get?

If you can easily get stuff in and out of it, and can clean it easily, and it's not going to get any direct sunlight, then I can't think of any reason not to have it there.

cleaning shouldnt be too bad, the light comes off fairly easily and i can get to all sides but the back with no hassle... i am contemplating maybe putting it on something that slides a little easier... and it gets no direct light

Depending on how much headroom you have, you should easily be able to throw some small casters/rollers on a piece of plywood and put the tank on that. Depending on how your counter is finished you could put formica, or whatever on the board to match or compliment the countertop.
