Word....please do not place a tang or butterfly in a tank that small...it would literally be jail. You should read up and study their natural environments and what their swimming and feeding habits are. Once you know that you'll totally understand why placing them in a 30 gallon is unrealistic and cruel.

I personely think tangs need 100g+, they need alot of swiming space and grown extremely fast

I agree, when I first started this hobby one guy at my local fish store said a tang would be fine in a 30 gallon. So, I had two yellow tangs at different times and they both died. I couldn't figure out why they died and I came to realize that they did not have enough room and didn't feel confortable. So, I would recommend that you follow the guidelines of the gallons per each species! Good luck.

I just obtained a kole tang. It was sick & is now thriving. That being said he is soon gone to some lucky persons tank. Tangs are not only needy as far as room goes. Do you realise how much of a burden they are on your bio load ? Even if it was viable to keep a tang in your tank. The amount of food they eat has to end up some where. Nano's do not have enough space to handle that much of a load on your system. You would put your entire tank in danger because of the stress.
