Hello,
I have a couple of lighting based questions.
I have a Resun DMS 400T5 which has been set up for just under a year. I have it stocked with soft corals and 2 common clowns. It has 4 x 8w T5 tubes, 3 10 000K white tube and a blue 'actinic' tube. I am having a lot of trouble finding replacement 8w actinic T5 tubes. I have found blue tubes but have been told that they are not true actinic tubes.
What is the purpose of the actinic tube? Is it to enhance the colour of the corals or does it have a biological purpose?
Would I be best leaving the blue tube in or should I replace it with another 10 000K white tube?
I have also been told that tubes with a higher K have more light from the blue part of the spectrum, would this be worth looking into as I can find tubes suitable tubes with a higher K spectrum. (Is this likely to cause algae bloom?)
Thank you for your help.
Regards.
