i was thinking about doing a sump but doing it basckward where the sump was above the main display and having the return be a siphon and putting a power head with 172-192 gph to pump the water up to the sump the height would ba about 2-2.5 ft would that pump work?

thanks

You would either have to use an overflow in the sump or drill the top of it to drain back to the display tank. You would also have to run the display tanks water level low enough to hold all of the water coming from the sump in the event of a power failure. The other thing I don't like about this is the tank is where the water level fluctuates due to evaporation. It is doable but to me not practable

yeah reefman and I have been discussing the idea and I have decided to go with the under the tank but the main concern I have is would that pump be good enough if I could get the sump/fuge high enough to the bottom of the display (build a little pedistal in the stand under the display) I didi a test with a bucket of water last night and the PH did well I think I put it in a bucket and ran it with some vinyal hose attached to it and held my finger over the end of the hose and it pushed against my finger quite well not enough to push it totally away but still better then I thought it was going to and that was at about 1-1.5ft so what do you think if I could get the sump/fuge about 2.5-3ft high under the stand do you think the siphon and pump presure would match up?

Thanks,
Aaron
