Well.. Noticed my 72 bowfront has a small leak. So before things get worse i need to move everything out into another tank. Which will be bigger. Most likely a 180. So what would i have to do so that nothing dies. Is there some sort of quide on the web that breaks this procedure down into steps?

Dont have time to get into much detail right now just looking to get some info to start preparing. thanks guys

That's a bummer man. I hope it works out for you. I guess getting shoved into a 180 isn't all that bad. Wish I had some advice.

buckets or large rubbermaid containers with heaters and powerheads should do the trick. i have kept stuff for couple weeks like that when i broke my tank. i also did weekly water changes too and kept fish seperate. HTH. sorry to hear about your leakage

Ok but heres my thing. Since i will be going to a larger tank.
My problems are-

New water
More LR
More LS (switching from the course stuff to the fine sugar stuff)

In what manner should everything be done so that i dont shock or kill anything ( fingers crossed)

if your just adding more sand and LR then the old stuff will help keep the cycle down. make new salt water to fill the tank and wait couple weeks to add the rest of your inhabitants.
