Starting over....

So I had a year and a half old healthy nano cube, I go on vacation and come to find my mini indo-pacific reef looking more like a mississippi swamp. My ballast had burnt out :lighting over vacation and I lost everythin. So after cursing at the gods and pondering getting rid of my tank I decided to keep it. What should I do to upgrade it? The tank is completly stock and I had great success with it that way. I'm definitley going mh, but as far as pump options and other miscellania i'm not too sure, any help would be great.

how much modding are you wanting and willing to do? Some people have added an overflow to the center of the tank to have the water go there and then added a second pump on the opposite side of the current pump so they will have double the flow. I have seen people add pcs over the back of the tank so they can keep a refugium. I have heard of people taking chunks out the back of the tank to add a chiller.

It really depends on how far you wanna go and how much your willing to spend.

PS if you just want to change you pump, I use a maxi-jet 1200 on my 12 gallon and I like it just fine.

Thanks for the suggestions, i'm not willing to go that far as to modifying the structure of the tank. My philosophy is to keep it simple, effective, and fun.
I'll try the maxi 1200 and see how that works.
