Someone ate my Coral Banded Shrimp

I have 3 fish (True Percula, Yellow Watcherman Goby, and a 6 line wrass), 8 hermits (4 blue leg, 2 red leg, 2 reef), and 2 turbo snails in my nano. Thing is I used to also have a coral banded shrimp, but when I got home from work yesterday it turns out someone got hungry and ate my shrimp as all that was left of him was 1 claw and 1 whisker.

Does anyone see a conflict with my fish and this shrimp? I was lead to believe that the only danger in this combo was that the shrimp might become aggressive toward the fish, I didn't expect it the other way around.

Help please.

It's pretty unlikely anything ate it, at least not with that mix. Are you sure the pieces you found weren't a molt?

I agree with incysor chances are a molt
he is probably hidden in the rock work he should be out after his new shell hardens . Also check around in the filter and out side the tank after mine molted he jumped out now I have a semi tight top on mine but check after lights out you may catch a glimps of him between rocks . Mine also come out at feeding time .

true, a molt hopefully. If it is dead, it's only because it died itself, and the clean crew started to pick at his remains. As to how it may have died, it could be a number of things.

All in all, do check around, you may find him alive, but hiding.

Hmm, I guess it could be a molt. I will keep an eye out for him.

As far as him dying first, he was alive at 7:30 and then I saw pieces of him at 5:30.

Hopefully you are right that it is just a molt.

Thanks

That's bizarre...But stuff like that happens. I've had a few inverts/fish go missing that I couldn't figure out. Sorry to hear it wasn't a molt though.

I've usually caught the Banded coral shrimp eating my small gobies or my sally light foot crab.

They are very opportunistic little devils if given the chance. I have seen them fight with my damsel.

The damsal won, taking off one of the claws. When that happens they hide and never show there faces until that claw regrows.

Hey Scoopthepoop, haven't heard any clicking noises coming from the tank lately have you? I had that problem once. If you have, you know you have a demon in there...and they are smart.
