snails

I just went to my LFS to pick up some astrea snails for my cleanup crew, and the guy there told me to get margrita snails instead. He said they eat more types of algae than the astreas. I was just curious if he was correct on this, or if i should go back and pick up some astreas also.

So far my cleanup crew consists of the following: (6 gal tank)

3 margarita snails
1 scarlet hermit
1 tricolor hermit

i'm also going to add a small serpent star once my LFS gets in a new shipment.

I understand that. My question was whether the margaritas really are as good as / better than the astreas as my LFS guy says...

I wouldn't say they're better.
They eat different algaes...So they're different not better or worse.
I'd go with a mix.

I have both astreas and margaritas in my tank. Both do an outstanding job of cleaning.

ok, maybe i'll go back to the LFS tomorrow and pick up 1 or 2 astreas...

i really like the astera snails but their one downside is if they get turned over they usally can't flip theirself back over so you occasionaly have to rescue one
