I was given this snail when I traded my LTA with a MAAST member. I didn't think much of it, but as time goes on, other than my conehead snail it's outworking anything else. The color is whitish/grayish. It is one of the few that dares cross the fine sand that is scattered over the sandbed. I always see it's little syphon protruding from the sand bed. When I put it in the fuge to work wonders on the sand bed it there, it made a few circles and immediately went up the glass, where it is now perched, refusing to go 'down there'. Funny. Anyone know exactly what it is, I'd like to get a few more.

looks just like a nassarius snail to me. It is a member of the whelk family, but it's a good whelk. they are excellent detritus eaters and will burrow into the sand bed, which helps with aerating the sand. It's not uncommon for them to cruise the glass as well, but they aren't filamentous algae eaters.http://digilander.libero.it/conchiglie/ ... usilla.htm
