Skimmer for BC29

Has anyone had any experience with using a smaller version of the sapphire skimmer in the 1st compartment of the BC29?

For example the Sapphire skimmer for the NC24 or 12 is much smaller that the one made for the BC29 could it be used in the 1st chamber? I would like to make the second chamber a fuge and squeeze a quality skimmer in the 1st chamber.

None here, I have a friend who has the BC 29 skimmer in his tank and he likes it ok. Small bubbles make into the display tank every so often, but the skimmer works.
