Sisters Feather Duster curling up? HELP

My sister just called me and told me her feather duster's tips are beginning to curl/spiral.... She told me to post something since she has 56k plus her comp takes long to boot. Is this common? She stated everything looks great, the duster comes out as usual but the tips are just twisted. Please help. Thanks

It may be just the current . Mine also does that when he is feeding(I think he is feeding) just keep the water clean and pristine , he may also be ready to "molt" his feathers , if this is the case they may grow back
What are her tank stats
inhibitants
perameters
temp

Temp is 80
nitrite .25
nitrate 0
ph 8.0
nitrite 0

She said they really curl and spiral. She said she had never seen it like this before. Asked her how long she had it and it was for two weeks now. She got me into looking at them. She's one month ahead of me doing a saltwater tank. Thanks Sadie.

All should be ok just monitor him . That is pretty much all you can do . Have her have water at the ready for a water change should the perameters indicate. Other wise jus watch . He could be stressed from the move he had they can be sensitive to things we just dont see or understand keep us posted...Maybe others can shed some light on this issue for you

She has a 20 gallon tank with 2 goby's, blenny, clown, firefish, emeral crabs 2, 8 hermit blue legs, snails, 2 diffrent polyps and a carnation She has a mini jet and two filters. If any of these will be a factor please tell me. She thinks she doesn't feed them? She said she may need some photoplankton to feed it. Does she have to do that? Thans

and about feeding it a feather duster is a filter feeder but some drops of plankton will help just in case if he is not getting food... the amount of plankton depends of with brand like the one i use is DT'S live plankton and i add 2 to 3 drops everyweek (but is not necessary)

I am not sure if the emrald crabs would pick at them or not . She could feed them photo but very little , she should not need to feed them if she is doing proper water changes. Perameters are good try to get the NitrAtes below 25 10-15 range they are up but not that high above 25 you will start to see redslime develop or at least that is the experience I had . I think that it may be the current try turning them down and see if that helps other wise it is a wait and see game . I think that it will be fine but hard to be sure with out seeing it and the changes it may be enduring .

Sister just emailed me and said the crown has fell off? Should she take out the tube? I read here that it can possible cause a spike if the worms dead? And for the crown it stuck in the rocks should I take it out. Please help... I told her its only going to be one day before I get a good answer, so it shouldn't upset the tank too much.

Nope let it go . Keep the water quality HIGH and pristine in a few weeks it should start to show a new smaller crown ,do keep an eye on it to make sure he is a live . Dont pick at it and stress it or it may move from the tube that usually means that they are very unhappy and could die . Once they leave the tube it is very unlikely to return .........She could very lightly pinch about half way down the tube in a few weeks to see if she "feels" him chances are he will recrown also look at the top it should be pinched shut by the worm for protection ....tho that is not always the case ours did not ...here is a link to what happed with ours ....

I believe with time and good quality h20 he should regrow his crown

Mine if fact did grow a new crown ......... she could take it out if she can get to it they wont harm the tank if left in but they do look creepy ...........As for telling just watch to see if you see a "slug" like thing in a few days she can very lightly pinch the tube to see if she feels him ....it is more of a wait and see game .He will come bck out once his new crown starts to come in
