Silicone

My husband came in with a tube of clear silicone this evening, and just wanted to run this past you guys. No where on this tub does it say 100%. It also says mildew resistant which leave me to believe that there are chemicals in this that can be harmful to aquarium inhibitants. The brand is "Lexel"? I ran a search, here, NR, and RC and 'lexel' had no hits.

Also, this does state that it 'sticks to wet surfaces' and 'adheres to acrylic & glass' This was the information that he took into consideration when he bought it. I don't think he was thinking of the chemical aspect.

Well I guess I found my answer, will have to go get a better brand.

Where not to use Lexel
Lexel should not be used in areas of continuous submersion (i.e., aquariums or swimming pools). Do not use Lexel in areas where temperatures exceed 200ºF. Lexel may damage some plastics, such as polystyrene foam insulation. Plastics not listed should be tested for Lexel compatibility before general application.
