Should this be killed?

To me it looks like Aspasia (sp?). They're known as a pest. I've had one in my tank for the past 6 months, and had left it alone for the simple facts that it hadn't spread or grown too big. This week I noticed that when I rearranged my rocks that the new location was to it's liking and it was growing quite rapidly. So I went to my vets office, explained what I wanted to do, and managed to get a hyperdermic needle. When I got home I injected it with a little bit (very little) of lemon juice. It is now gone. I figure that I will watch real close for the next few months to make sure that no more come back.

Here is what I am refering to, see if it matches up with what you have in your tank.

yeah they are real ugly. I have tiny tiny little ones slowly growing... they are not large enough to even inject them with anything. When I once was aquascaping, i got a razor blade and took quite a few of those suckers off with it, and it appeared to work, hehe, but hey that's more involved for most of you with bigger tanks, with my 1.5 it's a snap :)

slicing them off may appear to work, but unfortunately they will regrow from the flesh remaining. If they're still small, a peppermint shrimp may eat them, and you could also mix up a thick kalk paste and smear it on them.

I killed off my aiptasia with a kalk paste for many months before getting a syringe. Now I either use a small amount of lemon juice, like SM suggested, or I just inject them with boiling fresh water. The lemon juice seems to work a bit more effectively than the fresh water. I often have to repeat the fresh water a few times before I totally kill them all off.

Go ahead and kill it, the sooner the better, I had one and didn't know what it was and let it live for 3 m onths, and now I've got little ones all over. My pep shrimp eats it, but only on the right side of the tank, and I still see 'em but I just wonder how many more there are that I can't see.

Okay, the little thing must die...

Where can I get a syringe? And I do see babies too, so I know it has to go.

Thanks for your help everyone!

Medical supply, or in our case a friend that works in vet hospital.

SM got hers from her vet as well.

The pharmacy at Walgreens will sell you syringes as well. They are like a buck or so. I picked up a couple of them.

Just about any pharmacy should sell them. You just have to ask.

dude that's killer, I didn't know that. I guess it just seems funny asking them for a needle syringe from walgreens. Hey Dj as far as what to inject in them, you can inject them with homemade lemon juice, or is that the name of a product out there?

Yeah, there is that stuff called Joe's Juice which supposely works pretty good but I've yet to try it. I personally use straight up Kent's Calcium additive on the little suckers. It kills them and won't hurt the tank. I've killed many this way.

I just used the lime juice that comes in the little plastic squeezy limes from the grocery store. I already had it for adding to my tecates.

Joe's Juice works great, as does lemon juice or lime juice. For added kick, heat it up.
damn sugar, you dont just kill them, you torture and annihilate them! lol.

yea im gonna try that lemon juice on one i have tonight, I never thought it was apitasia because it looks differnt then the pics i see on here but i was looking in a reff mag i have and it shows a pic of one that looks exactly like mine, and hes been there for 2 months and hasnt even done anything, seems like a sin to kill it but what has to be done has to be done
