Hi sdbeazley and welcome! Is that a protein skimmer hooked up to a fluvial surface skimmer? What is the age of the tank? More info and pics please!

It is a hagen surface skimmer with no additional skimmer attached to a Aqua Clear mini and with an additional powerhead giving the whole tank 270 GPH. The tank is about 3 to 4 months old with a firefish and a ocellaris clownfish. I have a Green Pineapple Brain Coral, a Candycane coral, some GSP, Pumping Zenia and a Colt Coral. I also have 11 pounds of tonga liverock and 15 pounds of crushed coral.

Looks like a great start for only a 3-4 month old tank. What kind of lighting do you have setup? I've got an empty 10 just sitting here that may eventually become a little mini reef. That will be my 4th tank so on second thought, I might just hold off on that for a little while...at least until I get a bigger house. :lol:

10 gal nano tanks.


I prefer that 96 watt PC quad bulb. It is designed specifically for 10 gal nanos. I will post a pic of mine soon, as soon as I can move it.
