SAND OR NO SAND

This is my first saltwater tank and I have had many different opinions on whether or not to put sand in the bottom of the tank. Can anyone honestly tell me if sand is needed or not?

I would highly suggest a sand bed UNLESS... you plan on a very high turnover (75-100x or more) SPS tank with an excellent skimmer and chemical media setup. Sand beds can offer many benefits and should be incorporated IMO.

Agreed, definatly go with a sand bed. Plus I think it gives the natural look.
