salt problems ??

The water is a little cloudy with some small clumps of salt at the bottom, looks like sand. sg is 1.20 (measured with refractometer) so I added another 1/2 cup and waiting to dissolve. There's nothing else other than salt and H2O in the tank. I don't remember this happening with my 55 gal. The Temp. is 85-86 degrees (I know this is high), could that be the problem with the cloudiness and clumping? Thanks!

did you check the ph and the alk of the water to begin with. if it is already a basic(7.2 and higher) the salt will behave differently. it might take some extra aggitation to get it into solution. my bet is that you have residual calcium that is out of solution on the bottom of the tank.

So, if I understand correctly, all you have in the tank is water. I would just suggest adding a powerhead or two to stir up the salt that is sitting on the bottom.

How is the tank doing now?
