Remove Copper - New Biocube 14 Gallon

We used tap water to fill our BioCube 14 gallon. Currently we have 10lbs of live sand - and that's about it. We are using a Poly Filter along with the Carbon Filter.

We just got back from our LFS and there's trace amounts of copper - most likely from our tap water. We are using Cuprisorb to remove the copper. Since we don't have anything else in the tank - is this bad to start this way? I wish I would have used Reverse Osmosis water - but we didn't.

The LFS said to let it cycle through for another week using the Cuprisorb in a small "The Bag" and we have it placed in the filter area getting lots of water running through it.

Umm, honestly I've never came across this as I have been in the frame of mind that copper is horrible to have in our display tanks. I don't know if you can remove the copper to an acceptable level to ever house invertebrates. You may have a fish only with live rock tank. I'll look around, but I don't know a way to get rid of the copper completely.

I wouldn't add anything until you have removed all copper.

:welcome to Nanotank!! Glad you found us!

*update My initial searches seem to indicate what I thought. I don't know if you will be able to completely remove the copper. You can reduce a lot, but it will still be there. Your sand, rocks, and even the silicon has copper in it now. Sorry. I hope I find something promising.
