I havent posted anything new lately, so now is the time. I just did about a 7 gallon water change yesterday...about twice the normal water change..., completely cleaned out the skimmer and it's pump along with all the power heads. I have a bit of a flatworm problem right now, too. But here are the newest and latest...

BTW...does anyone else's Peppermints enjoy picking and cleaning at their hand while they are cleaning or is it just mine?

Looks all good to me, I dont see any flatworms in your pics. Or have you already dosed with flatworm exit?

No, there are flatworm all over. I siphon them out a couple times a week. Here are some pics. They are rather difficult to see in the first one, but they are the sort of square-shaped spots all over the rock.

They are easier to see in these pics.

And seems how I finally figured out how to post using photbucket.com, here are some RBTA pics I took today...

one more thing...

One more thing...what do I do with the nudi after he eliminates the flatworm? They have a specific diet, will he die if left in the tank?

yea, it'll die afterwards, but after that I'd just give it back to the LFS or help another member in need that has flatworms problem.

Dont know of anybody really that can keep them alive unfortunately :( The velvet nudi is so cool looking too.

I've been researching them for a couple months now and have been a bit hesitent cuz the story seems a little incomplete on them and one thing that is for sure is you have to get the exact right species of nudi but yea thats about the same story i get on them- though it seems they never really purge a tank completly of flatworms - after the population starts to wain they don't get enough to eat and die off and then the worms make their comeback. I went up to the drs f@s over the holiday and tried to get one but they didn't have any at the retail outlet so i have to order them in. I going to get one or even two - my 125 is really infested again!! what concerns me though and i don't think i have ever seen anyone address this issue is - if the flatworms are toxic and the nudis eat the flatworms, are the nudis then toxic and should one be concerned about them dying in the tank and then poisoning everthing???????

oh yea and by the way that bta is awesome!!!! - i bet it loves your new light. also on a side note on my hex i switched out the 50-50pc's for some dual actinics and like it much better. i was worried that with the 14k mh bulb actinics would make it look to blue but no its awesome color and the corals seem to like it too. blues reds and oranges just pop right out at you.

Oh, BTW, Im not running the MH yet...I havent taken the time to install a UV filter. Also, The RBTA, the clown, and the LR it is attached to is on the way out tonight. I have two good friends with an 80g reef that has been up for several years and they are coming by to buy the threesome off of me...its going to be a sad moment, but the RBTA has outgrown the tank and I have plans for a 20g long with 20g in-sump refugium, and the threesome just dont fit into the picture.

Reefman,

Get the velvet nudi, it would be better than chemical warfare; flatworm exit by Salifert. Yes I heard they die after the job is completed but it's far better than chemicals in your tank.

Make sure to remove him and take him to the LFS they will give you credit because a lot of reefers are in need of a Velvet nudi.

They cost about 12 dollars at one of my LFS, but it's worth the price to pay 24.

Well...i thought my RBTA was doing really well, and it turns out that it was. 2 days after selling it, the new owners contacted me to tell me that it split! looks like they got two for the price of one! I may see about possibly getting the smaller one from them...we'll see.

that is so cool - i did a lot of research before i set up my anemone tank and that was one things that came up a lot. they say that a water change or some other major change often "stresses" the anemone into reproductive mode and they split. I lost mine when my heater broke a month or so ago - wish i had that kind of luck instead!!!!

new buddy...

Hey all. I just bought a temporary new buddy. He is a blue-stripped, aka velvet, nudibranch. I bought him at Circle Pet in Long Beach for $12.99...not bad. Im gonna use him to help get my aformentioned flatworm problem that is currently reached plague proportions. After he has suceeded with his mission, he will then move to my brother-in-laws to accomplish a repeat mission. It is too bad that I cant keep im permanently...they are really quite beautiful and intriguing. FYI, the head end is on the left, rear on the right.

Jesse

More pics of him devouring (hopefully)!
