Hi,
I'm wondering if I should buy this 6gal nano cube.

So far this is the info on it:

all whisper powerfilter for water movement, submersible heater, pc
lights with actinic and 10k bulbs. the light alone was $80, everything
used for less than 6 months. make me an offer.it comes with lights, hang on
back filter that i use as a fuge, and submersible
heater.

I would like to know about the quality and quantity of the LR and sand. Also, the history of the tank. But what other questions should I ask, and how much should I offer (the least, he originally posted it 7/31, said he's had some emails but no one ever came to pick it up)?

Looks like a pic right after it was set up. I would ask for a new photo. Check to see if he used any chemicals that contained copper. Or you could ask him what chemicals he used in it then research it a bit so that you don't get a straight 'no' answer without any information to back up his claim. See if the tank has been used for anything other than fish. IMO, for a tank that size, you can get a new tank fairly cheap and not have to worry about past history.

Lists for $89.99 at the above site. Worth looking into if the seller is asking for close to the same price.

My advice would be to buy something new.

I like to start off with new stuff to make sure you don't run into any surprises down the road. Like Trogdor said above, you can always get a tank of a similar size for $89.99, which I can't imagine being much more than what the used tank would cost you.

It's hard to trust someone when purchasing used equipment. I'd have to know the person myself and/or they would have to be active members of nanotank.com

IMO, spend a few extra dollars and go with something new! You'll have piece of mine with your purchase. A tank crashing on you would be more costly than spending a few extra dollars on something new. Losing live stock and having to buy a new tank would leave me upset and broke!

HTH,
