Purigen and Phosphate Sponge

I'm thinking of getting some Purigen and a Phosphate sponge to run in my tank. I've reduced feeding to about every other day, and will start reducing lights to 50% today. Do you think getting Purigen and Phosphate sponge would help? I have a fluval 104 cannister filter as well as a HOB Aqua Clear filter. I was wondering if you guys could give me your thoughts on this. Would the purigen and phosponge work? And where should i run them from, the cannister or the HOB? I was thinking running the purigen from the HOB since Nitrogen gas liberated from nitrate would be more easily removed. Thanks in advance!

Well i have heard great things about purigen so i think it might help and phosphate remover not always needed but will help to prevent any algae bloom that is not needed... but patience dont rush anything just let your tank mature and you will see that everything will be stable in its own time....water chemestry & no more algae...... actually only thing you need is keep up with your weekly water changes, run your carbon and dont over feed and slowly your nightmares are gonna be gone.....you'll see.
