Pulsating Xenia..

I picked up 3 small frags of this and not sure what to watch for. I just used rubber bands to attach it where I wanted it placed, since the frags were pretty much only attached to small shells. Is this ok for attachment? Also, what do I look for in hopes for hints of survival or lack there of??

Thanks..

That is one of the proper ways to attach xenias...glue doesnt work because they are so slimy. Xenias are very hardy. Put them in an area with moderate flow...not too strong though. They will spread like wild fire too, so watch out.

Signs of health are pulsing, good polyp extension, polyps that dont look like they have been singed by a lighter.

I bought a stalk of Xenia for 10 bucks on craigslist. After 4 months I had 6 stalks. After 6 months I had 15. It will grow out of control. Be careful. They seem to like PC lighting and do poorly with Halide. I sold all the stalks to my LFS and today I noticed one of the stalk "smudges" is now regrowing little hands. They are very hardy.

yea there insane - grow like crazy, i had the same experience as SoUnDwAv3 and finally after selling off a bunch of it i just erradicated it - my tank has very little real estate left and it was starting to show up in places i didn't want it. they are very neat and everyone loves the pulsing but make sure you put it where it is "trapped" and can't spead where you don't want it
