About every other day or so, I get a light powdery type of algae growing on my glass, and I was wondering if this is normal. My tank is about 2 months old and all params are normal. The lights are on about 12 hours, hope that is the info you need.
I have a similar algae...it shouldnt be a problem unless it is...well...a problem. I would highly recommend a magnet cleaner, ive heard nothing but good things about these nimble nanos ----> http://www.nimblenano.com/ . I plan on investing in one soon myself.
also, snails can help a little bit, but no amount or type of snail will eat ALL of it.
I have sopmetimes seen an algae like you describe for a week or so as part of a new tank syndrome, it will go away if thats the case. You also may try shortening your lighting period a bit to help this pass. What kind of lighting are you using? If you have a magnetic type ballast it could be time for you to change the bulbs.
