I am planning a possible upgrade to a 29gal, maybe more depending on what kind of lighting i decide to go with...

a 20L will be the smallest i will upgrade to...

here is the fish list i am thinking of, let me know if you think there will be any problems:

my O. clown
a black clown to pair with him
one red firefish
one purple firefish
a yellowheaded jawfish

sound good?

You will need a deep sandbed for the jawfish and I think I recall that firefish should either be kept singly or as mated pairs. As for the upgrade if you plan on keeping a jawfish then go with the 29 since a deep enough sandbede will take up too much vertical real estate. HTH, Skip

ive heard they like about 5 inches and different sized grains... i thought maybe id have a deep side and slope it down to 2 or 3 on the other side, but then again there is no garuntee that the jawfish will pick that side. but i figure if he likes a deep sand bed, hell pick the deep side.

I am not sure that will work either, he will move sand all over the place until he likes the depth where he has decided to make his burrow. You can try it but I don't think it will work unless you luck up and he just goes for the deep end. Good luck, Skip

You don't need that deep a sandbed for the jawfish. I've had bluespot and pearly jawfish and never had more than 2.5 - 3inch sandbed. However you will need some different size grain/rubble for it. They use it to shore up the burrow, and to create doors with. Most of the time I just added a small pile of rubble/crushed coral near where I'd like them to build burrows, and they ended up building them somewhat close to where I put the pile.

Two firefish is good, but two of the same color would be better. Mixing them is an iffy proposition.
