Those are fabulous Exile. My cleaners used to do that when I had the 55. For some reason the new ones in the 75 seem much shyer.

Here's a few. Not the best pics, I shot these pretty much right after I got the camera so my skills hadn't improved yet.

that octopus isnt in with your fish right, just cheacking very nice pics what kind of anemone is that, beautiful color, cool both the clown and crab get along in such a small anemone, my crab used to hoard his anemone, he died not to long ago, I have no idea why, maybe just old

love that octo! great pics as usual incysor.

the LFS got in two octos the other day and were unloading their new stock while I was there. One of the employees dumped one of the octos in the tank with a panther grouper. the grouper beat the hell out of the octo before they were able to get it out of the tank. I left just after they netted it out and put it into the tank where they had placed the other octo. It looked pretty bad...I have no clue if t made it or not. Sad.

my LFS actually had one not to long ago too, they kept it in a little container inside the tank, the octo was only 4 inches long about 1.5 wide, the fish manager took him home, I wish blue ringed wernt so "deadly" id love to have one

Nope, The octo was in the 40gal. It was plumbed togther with the 55, much like it is with my 75 now. There was a lawnmower blenny with it, but nothing else. You can see both of them in the pic. That fish was the coolest. I guess he learned from watching the octo come up and get food out of our hands, but he'd swim up and you could cup the food in your hand and he'd perch on you to get it.

Amazing pics, I'm starting to get a relationship with the nemo fish, he comes up and isn't afraid of my finger. In time perhaps I'll be able to pet nemo like a lil puppy or kitten, hehe.

I like that Octopus, he's tight. Hadn't seen one since my brother had one a long time ago. I remember how little I was and how excited I'd be to want to feed um a goldfish or whatever is my bro said to stick in there, hehe.

beautiful tank amn, what fish do you have in the tank plumbed with the octo's
Hmmm... Long-story-short. Octos only live 8-14months. So I don't have one right now. Mine lived 10, then passed away. We knew we were going to be moving so held off on ordering another one, because we expected the water parameters to be a bit jumpy for awhile. The move didn't go as planned and we lost 16 of 19 fish in one night. Out of the remaining 3, only 1 is still left. It's our female percula. Right now there are 3 fish in the 'octo tank' one lawnmower blenny, and 2 tiny, (about 3/8inch), red chromis. There were 4 chromis, but 2 of them disappeared. I couldn't figure out what the problem was until I walked by the tank the other night and found a gorilla crab in the tank. It's body is between a quarter and 50-cent piece. These are known fish/crab/snail killers. I'm gonna have to trap the bugger out. Here's a pic of the type of crab I'm talking about.

Incysor, I have an unidentifed crab in my tank (the 30), and have never seen it. I know it's there because I found a portion of it's molt - just an arm and claw, about a month ago. The claws look exactly like that guy there. Cramy colored shell with black tips on the claws. From what I understand the black tips indicate a "bad" crab.

Thankfully I haven't noticed any fish deaths. I did have a predatory whelk in the tnak that was taking out my nass snails, but I wonder if this elusive crab is also guilty.

Maybe I'll make a 20 oz soda bottle trap and see what I can catch.

I had one hitch hike in on a great mushroom rock when I had the 55 set up. It stayed in one hole, and didn't seem interested in the rest of the tank, and I couldn't see it too well, so I wasn't concerned. Then one day I walked by the tank and my cleaner shrimp was stuck butt-first in the hole. The crab had somehow got ahold of it and killed it. I took the rock out, and angled it around in a bucket with a light until I could get a little better look at him. Then I went in search of it. It seems there are several varieties of this black-tipped claw kinda crab, and they're ALL bad for your tank. I couldn't get it out of the hole so I ended up squirting isopropyl, (rubbing), alcohol in the hole. That will kill them instantly. It did the trick. I was able to fish the carcass out with a pair of forceps.

This one is more of a problem because it's bigger, and it's hole appears to be in one of the large rocks at the bottom of the aquarium. I'd have to essentially take all the rock out of the tank, and it's possible that I wouldn't find him. I'm gonna start trying to trap him out with a glass jar and some table shrimp tonight.
I also think I may have a mantis shrimp in my 75. I haven't seen it, or really any piles of empty crab/snail shells, but I occasionally hear popping coming from the tank at night, and 3 fish have gone missing recently. Both my catalina gobies, and my yellow headed jawfish.

Grrr.

Phishy, you wouldn't be coming home for the holidays would you? I think your isopod-hunting skills might come in handy. :?
