So has anyone seen these new LED lights http://www.solarisled.com/ they sound almost to good to be true except for there price (at least the initial price), medal halide brightness with almost no heat and 40% less energy costs and 70% light reduction after 50,000hours (at 12 hours a day that’s over 11 years!). I would really like to know more about these lights other than PFOs own promotional stuff, has anyone used these are know of anyone using them? I think I would love to buy the 24inch fixture but I want to know all I can about these fixtures before I shell out the almost $1000 bucks!

Don't remember where I read about it, but some guy put together an LED light strip using LEDs (not these solaris ones, but some of the stronger ones). He used some light reading device (not PAR but light intensity reading device of some type) and he found out that the LEDs where actually very comparable with MH lights. You could rest the LEDs right on the tanks due to little heat generation and have very little power conumption as well make a very intricate dawn dusk effect by having groups of LEDs on different timers. Down side was actually putting the LED devices together. He was an electrical engineer (or at least really good with electronics) and it took him a couple months to assemble everything. I'd love to see these lights in person and compare them to other types of lights.
