I like the looks of Serpent stars and Chocolate Chip stars. What kind of experiences have you all had with these?

Starfish are definitely neat little guys but I have never been able to have a system where I could sacrifice my inverts for one. Most stars eat everything good in your sand beds and they will normally eat most snails and inverts. I value a good clean up crew more than stars.

the large serpents like the orange and green get way to big for a nano may prey on small fish
stars like the chocolate chip are predatory need to be feed, and may cause trouble with inverts
sand sifting stars will starve in a nano as will must sand sifting cukes
urchins eat coraline algae and will bulldose things over
filter feeding cukes rarely make it in small systems
a black brittle star would probably be OK but it will hide under the rock so you won't see much of it and the rock needs to be very stable cause it will dig sand out from under it

I'd stay away from a serpent stars. They just grow too big for a nano not to mention they will knock stuff over and definitely eat any fish in your tank. I had one in my 20 gal that was an absolute monster!
