Hey all im new to this site and also new to the salt water world. Kinda just dropped on my lap really. Ive been in aquarium hobby for long time. Just only fresh water. I have lots of tanks. But just yesterday i was given a beauty wich i will post pics of. This tank i beleave is 180 gallons it messures 6 feet long 28 inches tall 18 inches wide. Mohogany base and canopy very beautifull.
It came with bunch of live rock i wanna say round 100 pounds but im not sure. Have couple fish in it not realy sure what they are I know 1 is a clown fish A yellow tang and i think one other is a tang as well but not sure. and small fish i think eats parasites off the others and a blue funny nose fish lol. Saw couple off hermits as well.
Anyways persona that had this tank didnt care very well for it. was very dirty still is. i didnt want to mess the system up si didnt clean much. Just most algea off back and glass. But the rocks are filthy covered in algae they just dont look right to me. Looking at pics on this site tells me they are way too dirty.
Plain and simple i need all the help i can get and guidance on this. I want to get this up to parr. The tank has everythig i need from a Uv sterilizer to protein skimmmer i have 2 jets in tank. I did the move preatty good all the fish survived they look to be doing fine. I put bout 90 gallons of the water it already had back in it. Bought 3 30 gallon trash cans and filled em up. i didnt clean filter so i know i dont have to worry bout it going thru a full cycle. Just gimme tips on getting this cleaned up please and what else i can add to it to help it out
