New Protein skimmer

I just purchased a new Protein Skimmer from Jebo that goes up to a 75 gallon tank. Its on my 20 gallon long tank right now. How long does it take before any skim should be accumulated? I have the water line about a inch and a half from the top of the skim cup. Is that okay? Plus I have a lot of micro bubbles going straight to the surface of the tank, is it suppose to do that when breaking it in? Jason

most skimmers take about a week to break in and every time you feed or put your hand in the tank the oils will mess with production
you'll have to play with the water level to get the desired quality of skimmate -low for thin watery, higher for thicker
microbubbles are a common problem with some HOT skimmers if they don't stop after a reasonable breakin period you may have to add a bubble collecting sponge
I am not familiar with that particular skimmer though..........

Washing a new skimmer in very warm water will remove some of the oils that get on it during manufactureing, this usually shortens the break in period.

I had the same problem with my seaclone skimmer but I played with the air adjustment and found where it was producing minimal bubble in the tank and let it run like that and by the next mouring there were no bubbles in the tank and the skimmer is still doing its job its keeping the water crystal clean hope this helps

Thanks everyone. I'm gonna wash the filter pads in warm water after I put more live rocks and have a better sense of the final aquascape. I moved the rocks around and the skimmer pad has alot of sand around it so I'll just wait. Thanks again. Anymore tips please feel free.
