Hello, sorry in advance if my questions seem stupid to some but i am relatively new to reef tanks, i had a reef setup a while back though due to ignorance it crashed and had to give it up for a while, now that i'm financially stable again i'm thinking of giving it another go,
Its a 16gallon tank with dimensions 20 inches lengthx20 heightx12 width, (not used to writing in inches but in cm 58 x 58 x 30)
anyway i want to do it properly this time, so far i have put in a sand bed of about 5 inches and filled up with salt water, i'll need to put some live rock in at some stage within the next week but first i want to get the lighting right. The lights that came with the setup are 2 x 24w 7,100K globes, im not quite sure what kind of light it is but it sits on brackets over the tank
Anyway i was looking at getting a metal halide for it, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on my options, i've read through some of the threads and many have gone with a 150W 20,000K MH, would this be suitable for my tank? i dont want to be too limited with what i can keep in it, previously i kept 2 nemos and a few soft corals, torches, zooanthids, mushies, and a cataphyllia, i also had a goniopora at one stage.
Also is it possible to have metal halides on brackets rather than hanging from the roof??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
