Okay...after having much difficulty registering to this site (thank you to the web master), I am finally able to chat with you all, and get some advice! I have done some saltwater and many freshies, but want to do this tank right, and therefore am asking lots of questions, in hopes that you guys/gals that really know what your doing can help me succeed with this.

My Nanocube 24DX, has been up and running now almost a month. All water perimeters are perfect so far. When setting up the tank, I put in the agri live sand, live rock, and bought the bottled sea water. I have some blue hermits, and some turbo snails currently inhabiting the tank, and all seem to be relatively fine. I am not sure as to what I want to put in the tank yet, but really would like to do some corals that will work under the lighting conditions. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have a question about whether or not this tank needs a protein skimmer. This model of nano I have does not have the intergraded surface skimmer. I am finding it almost impossible to find any type of skimmer that will work with the factory set up for this tank. I currently have the sponge media that came with the tank, and added Poly Filter on top of that. I pulled the ceramic and bioballs out, and put a bag of Chemi-pure in the spot. I also added a Maxi-jet 900 for extra water movement in the tank. Is this set up okay? Is there something that would work better? Has anyone made a skimmer or found one that works for this tank...or do I even need one?

I am also having trouble maintaining appr. water temp. the tank is steady at 80-82F. I can't seem to get it down, and this is with the heater dialed in as low as it will go, and my average house temp is 68-70 year round. Will this hurt things in the tank at this temp?

How do I insert a pic? I would like to show you visually what I have so far....

Thank in advance, and glad to be on the board![/img]

I dont think you will need a skimmer as long as you do your 20-25% weekly water changes ....as Eddy said.
As for the temps some say that put the feeding door up to help if that doesnt work try using a fan to circulate air around the tank watch for evap and top off as needed . You dont want it going much higher than 82 it is the swings of temp that are hard on the fish and corals. If the temps remain an issue for you perhaps you could put some vent holes in the top and sides of the lid, I am not real well versed on the nano cubes as we dont own one, others here do.
As for corals you are limited in what you can keep . You could try a candy cane coral some green star polyp and some zoas and mushrooms they are all fairly easy and dont need obnoxious ammounts of lighting . I am sure others will give you some imput .Good luck and :welcome to nanotank
