Nice looking cleaner shrimp . I think that he will be fine with out a partner but from what I have read they do fine in groups too. :)

The things I've read about most shrimp is that they do better in pairs or groups of the same type. With that in mind I had a pair of skunk cleaners, a pair of peppermints, a pair of blood/fire shrimp, a group of sexy shrimp in my 55g tank for almost two years before the mother*%$&ing coral banded got large/agressive and ended up killing most of the others, and some fish. I've had my current skunk cleaner in my 75g for over a year by itself, and it appears to be fine. So it just depends if you want another one or not.

i meant to say he ATE one of my small snails right in front of me... i was hoping that would spark some sort of discussion about mischievous shrimps... lol

I've never seen any of my cleaners, skunk or fire, or my peppermints bother my snails/crabs. That's pretty strange. Perhaps the snail was already dead. Did it kill it for sure? Maybe it was simply going after a piece of food the snail was on.

I don't think the shrimp killed the crab, its more likely he was picking at a dead carcass. I can buy cleaners in my area for as cheap as $15 and if I go to one bad LFS they can go as high as $45. Most stores have them for about $25 but there is one store where they are $15 every day.

no.. it killed it, because it took like 3 mins to pull it off the rock.. it was one of those tiny snails that look like slugs because they have a long shell... idk i have like 10 of them in my tank.. but i watched the shrimp pull at it and pull at it and pick off its tail and pull some more till it came off.. then it carried it behind the rock to eat it.. it was badass
