Man, did I get lucky.
Well, lemme rephrase that. My 29G saltwater reef overheated due to a malfunctioning pump, and I lost almost $150 worth of fish, inverts, and corals (doesn't take much-put the word 'marine' in front of any living critter name and you can count on a major and immediate increase in price/cost). I tried more canopy fans...I tried a small chiller probe...no dice.
So...here's the 'lucky' part. I scored an Arctica 1/5 HP chiller on eBay and ended up only paying $225, including shipping. Plumbed it in last Saturday...and now, even with the MH light...it stays steady at 78°F, which is exactly where I set it.
Man...what a relief. One less thing to be concerned with...and the price for the same model new is well over $500-$600 around here.
