I just started cycling my tank and that is going good, my PH is a little low at 7.8, my ammonia is .25 my Trites are 5, my trates are 40 and the Salinity is 1.026, but right now I can not get my temp below 85.1 when the day lights are running, when the day lights are off it cools to about 84.4. these are still high, especially with the day lights. I thought it was the Maxi jet I had in there but when I took it out and replaced it with the stock pump the temp was still just about the same, maybe dropped a couple .01 degrees. So I installed another fan under the hood which didn't do much and I even put holes in the top to let it ventalate more. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cool this a little more, without buying a chiller?

perhaps try a room fan near by to help circulate air some suggest to leave the feeding door open to help and another thing that you may need to do is to replace the fans with larger ones there are quite a few here that have the NCubes and do so successfully . I got a mini fan for our tank (not a nano cube) at walmart for 6 or 7 bucks and that works well pointed to the lights I do have more evaporation but I would say it is worth it as my temps never get past 74 degrees and usually run 71 - 72 degrees night and day

Well it looks like the fan is working, I've had it on there for about 10 minutes and the tank temp has cooled to 82.8. Hopefully It will cool off a liitle more over night and then we'll see how it does when the day lights turn on tom. thanks again!

I had the same heat issues as well but put a small walmart fan right near my canopy and its really been helping. My nanocube temps haven't gotten higher than 82 since I did it. I also plan on upgrading the canopy fans but this is working in the meantime. Best of luck.

Thanks for the Welcome everyone, I got this site from Fin-Addict, which helped with my purchases and ALL of my newbie questions. The fan is working it cooled the tank tonight down to 77.4 so I put my heater in and it warmed to 78.6, now that the day lights have been on for an hour the temp is steady at 80.7. Thanks for the fan suggestion, it was probably my BEST Wal-Mart purchase!

I have another question though, I was just reading the Live Rock article that was posted, and I set my 12g up with Ultra Dry Base rock, should I get a piece of the Fiji Premium rock that my LFS sells to help my tank cycle better?
