You can adjust the pump to what ever size overflow you get.....

For a sump/fuge you don't need huge amounts of flow. For a 10 gallon tank, I would try and find the smallest overflow you can.....

You will see just how much room they take up in a 10.....

Yeah I know thats why I was going to try and make my own because I have a patterned acrylic background on my tank and I have material left over from that so I was going to make it out of the so it would blend in and wouldnt be as noticable unless you were looking at it from the side.

It would be cool if you could drill a hole in the upper corner. I dont know where you are located but I could help you or do it for you if you are in So. Cal. Its really quite easy.

The HOB's will take up alot of space in a 10g. You could custom make one though... I found this, it may be a good start for you. http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/overflow.htm

Heck, then just do a corner overflow....you will never see it!!!

yeah but the down side to drilling the tank or putting in the corner overflow is that I moved everything in to the tank last night and i would hate to have to take everything back out of it. because I only have one other tank and I already have put the baffles in the 5.5gal which is going to be the sump.

I was wondering if you could just do a inverted "U" shaped two cut down so its only like 3/4 of an inch in the water that way if the water drops to far then the siphon breaks or if the power goes out it breaks works kinda the same and that way it saves the drilling and the need of having a box in the tank at all other then a skimmer box I would build to put around the "U" tube.

honestly i get what you are saying but then if the power comes back on it pumps water up and the syphon wont start again automatically.. use either the link posted above or this one:

i am currently building one of these ^^^ out of pvc...(slightly modified design, but essentially the same) ill post it in DIY once i start next week...
