Need Help With Choosing New Fish

Hi everyone!! I'm kind of new to saltwater tanks and was hoping you all could help me out.

I have a 14 gallon biocube that is 8 weeks old and right now houses 1 yellow watchman goby, 1 peppermint shrimp, 1 emerald crab, and a few hermit crabs and snails.

I'm interested in purchasing at least one/two more fish, and I would like to add some coral within the next month. Originally, I was looking at buying a purpleback psuedochromis, but then I read that it would likely attack my peppermint shrimp.

I want to add fish that are appropriate for a 14 gallon, that are reef-safe, and relatively peaceful (ie. won't eat my shrimp). Any suggestions?

Stay away from anything that will be claiming the same space. In this case, I'd focus on midwater fish, as the yellow watchman will claim all of the bottom and rock space in that size tank. That's another vote against a pseudochromis.

I really like cardinals for these settings. (I really like cardinals in anything bigger than about 5 gallons.) Some of the fairy wrasses _Might_ be worth a look (they share the same space part time, but get away well even then), chalk bass should be easy, a pygmy angel, or a few chromis. I'd look in that order. I'd go 2-3 of the cards, bass, or chomies, but only a single of the wrasse or angel. And no more than the 2 species - your existing goby and one new fish/group.

You'll surely get other suggestions, and as I like to say, they can all disagree and still all be right. YMMV.

Let us know how it goes.
