nanocube questions?

I was wondering if i need to rinse the carbon bag that comes with the nanocube. It seems impossible to do. Also is there suppose to be a tiny hole about an inch below the grill. If so what is its purpose. Lastly does it matter what chamber I put the heater in? Thank you

I would rinse the bag otherwise you may get particals that float around .....I dont think it really matters what chamber the heater goes in ... and I am not sure what the hole is for

Its seems impossible to rinse all that crap from the bag. I rinsed it for 30 min and still have partiticals coming out of it. I guess I'll rinse some more.

If you already rinsed it you should be ok fill up a dish of water and agitate it then a quick rinse with the hose on the kitchen sink should do it . I did not think you already tried rinsing it you will never get all the "extra junk" out of it you mainly want the extra dust out

with the carbon, you are mainly looking to see when the water begins to run clear...you will always have loose pieces occasionally coming through.

Ok I see. I also turned on my pump and the carbon deposits went through into my tank. Would that be a problem or is it ok. Another thing, I was looking at the stock pump and all its says on it is 110v/60hz. what does that mean?

About the heater doesnt matter were you put it but mine is in the 3rd chamber cause there is more space in that chamber cause all the things i have in my other chambers....and about carbon deposits they will be suck by the filter again so i dont think will be a issue but next time try to use chemi-pure (another kind of carbon but is much better than regular carbon). and the tiny hole is there for a reason but not sure why and mine has it too.....

looks like you just got your nanocube....i dont know if someone already told you but dont use the bioballs or biorings ....get some liver rock rubble and put that instead of all that crap that will not help you system only a place to accumulate trash... and the rubble is better for you filter media and 3 sponges are too much so try to leave one or two in the 1st chamber ....a good thing to do is leave 1 only and every 2 days or so take it out rinse it let it dry and mean while put another one of your extra ones and go like that to keep it cleaner...but is up to you.... HTH

P.S: get a surface skimmer

Thanks for the advice. If I were to put live rock rubble in chamber 2 would I have to provide light for it? Ed I was wondering what else do you have in your first chamber? Also are you still using the stock powerhead if not what are you using. Thank you

you dont need a light for the LR only if you want to put chaeto so you'll need a refugium light and no im not using the powerhead anymore i upgrade to a Maxi jet 900 with a hydro flo but if you got the nano cube 2006 the stock pump will give you nice flow.

1 chamber>>> LR rubble and on top one sponge
2 chamber>>> LR rubble
3 chamber>>> heater, pump, only a piece of LR and a bag of chemi-pure.

I have the model with the moon leds, would that make it the 2006 model. But I was looking in the back at the production date and it says 2005 05?

so change your pumps to a mini jet 606 or even better maxijet 900... for more flow and also if able get a surface skimmer...

the ones on sale the best one is Model 500 and only has 145 GPH and you want something more powerfull between 153 - 235 GPH and the one that i like the maxijet 900 has 230 GPH.

The 110v/60hz just indicates that the pump is designed to run on 110 volt 60 cycle electricity which is what we use in America, nothing to worry about.
If there is a label with a serial number on the back of your tank you have an '06 model with the upgraded return pump. If not use either a MiniJet 606 (most common) or use a MJ 900 like Eddy uses.
