My new tank

Here's my new 10g tank. I had to set it up in my nephew's bedroom, but he's getting a kick out of it already, what with the animals and stuff. Here are some pics:

Specs:
10g AGA tank
Small Whisper HOB filter (I already had it, so I used it)
Approx. 10# LS, 10# LR
28w 10K PC, 28w Actinic 03 PC
Various critters so far, etc., etc...

Anyway, that's it so far. I'll update as things change.

Looking good. I'm always happy to see a new tank in the works...

So Flame, how's the new job? Weren't you working for a aquarium manufacturer or something? Give us an update.

It's going alright. I'm also subbing in a local marine shop, selling livestock and hard goods. It's going okay.

On a different note, anyone ever use Marc Weiss's Phosphate+Silicate Remover? I just put some in the Aquaclear 200 I slapped on the 10 tonight, and it says on the package to not rinse it out, but it immediately made the tank brown...is this normal?

Okay, here's an update. The tank is doing wonderful. I grabbed a handful of sand from a friends' tank to seed mine, and that turned out to be a good thing. I've added two little crab anemones (the ones you see on a hermit crab's shell in nature documentaries). They came on an empty shell, but they're starting to move around.

My Halimeda has budded off and is starting to grow all over the adjacent rock, as well. The star polyps are starting to spread and attach to the rock, too. Coraline seems to be spreading slightly, although it's hard to tell.

I added an engineer goby, since I've always had a soft spot in my heart for them. He started eating 2 minutes after being put in the tank, so I have high hopes for his survival.

That's it for now! I'll have more info later.

*EDIT*
Can anyone ID this for me? Is it just a simple rock flower?

Okay, here's an update on the 10g. I added some new stuff, and whatnot. Here are some pics with captions. One pic I couldn't get was that of the pistol shrimp I put in there. He kinda has the butt of a cleaner shrimp, except orange and white, and the rest of his body is orange. He's about an inch long, and he's fairly neat.

I call it a tongue leather, but it's just a toadstool. It looks like the rock is sticking it's tongue out at you. You can also see a pair of green buttons on the rock, too.

My little hammer. It's enjoying it's spot on the sand.

Full tank shot.

My little button coral. It seems to be happy in that spot, and the crabs leave it alone.

The bubble. This thing is loving the position it's on in the tank. It's just so big and bushy and happy.

That's it for now. Comments?

The new additions look nice. I like that tongue leather thingy.....its kinda funny. I don't believe I have seen one like it before.

The tank is doing quite well, actually, considering how fast it went up. I've since trimmed the Halimeda back all the way to the rock, since it was getting out of hand. I added a small, bright yellow cuke to the tank, as well as a few more snails and some Caulerpa.

Yes, I have been feeding the hammer, as well as the rest of the tank, too. The Engineer Goby, crabs and Pistol Shrimp are getting shrimp pellets, the snails eat the algae, as well as the occasional algae tab, the bubble gets a piece of krill once a week, and the tank gets dosed with plankton, etc. twice a week, so everything should be fairly happy. My buttons have started to spread, and so are the star polyps. The Stars are also starting to change color, too. When I got them, they were kinda brown with pinkish tips, but now they're a vibrant turquoise color, so I'm kinda happy about that.

That's it for now.
