Just started my 10g. So far I have done the following:
11lbs of Live rock
10lbs of live sand
catilina(sp) ocean water
marineland hob filter
Ordered but have not recieved yet: maxi jet 600, and a skimmer.
Arranged the rock this morning and I am sure I will play with it more. I am open to any suggestions anyone may have as well. Tank will fowlr for now, no money for lights right now. well here are some pics of it:

Good to see you got the posting pictures figured out. Looks like a pretty nice bunch of rock, let us know how the cycle goes.

Glad to have a fellow Northeaster on the board!!!

Don't be afraid to break that rock into smaller chunks if you feel the need to, it won't hurt it a bit!!!

Thanx, I will post updates as they come. I am taking my time. Learned a hard lesson with a 5g that a LFS sold me and then gave me bad info a year ago. I have researched it this time and am continuing to do research. I wish I had done that the first time damn. oh well live and learn.

I have found that the live rock is a base for the corals and the more surface area you can create, the more corals you can get......

ain't that the name of the game????? :D :)

Nice dickie.

Good start..good job on getting just enough LR, you will gather more and more with every coral purchase.

What skimmer did you get?

i got the Red sea Prisim skimmer. I know there are mixed reviews on it but a friend has one and loves it, and I wanted an HOB and that one was the best I could afford. Question for everyone: Is there a lighting upgrade I make to my existing hood to allow for better lighting?(it is the typical 10g black plastic hood with a signle tube 15w lightbulb? Or should I just save the money and replace with a light setup?

i would save up for a light fixture.....JMO. coralife 96w fixture really good fixture, only downfall is one bulb, cant control actinics or daylights seperatly. im pretty sure there is a 2x40w fixture on the market with seperate switches for the bulbs and it has a lunar light built in.HTH.

oh yeah welcome to nanotank

I am guessing it would be config A since that is the one the chart says is 20" but I maybe reading the chart wrong.(I am not sure when it comes to lighting. I'm trying to read as much as possible about it.)

you are right conf. A.......thats the light i was thinking of in the earlier post. you will be able to keep most corals with that lighting on a ten.
