I put one of these together for my 2.5 gallon.
I took everything out of my AC70.
Refuge, cheata, deviders, everything - just one empty box.
I then installed four small PVC pipes to hold up a small piece/sheet of plastic (that I roughed up and drilled a few holes in).
The plastic sets on top of the four pipes just above the water level.
When I turn the power head on (located in the back of the AC70), the water is routed such that it flows over the piece of plastic and back into the AC70 and then into the tank. To help the agae grow on it, I've added a large 15 watt CPF (6500) bulb that is located 1" off the water/plastic.
It's only been two days and the algae is already starting to grow on the plastic vs inside my tank.
I'll run this for a few months and then let you know how it does.
