Mail Order Live Rock??

Hello,
I am in process of setting up 30 gallon tank, its filled with water and sand with filter and skimmer going. I just got 30 lbs of live rock in the mail I bought off ebay. Thought I would try this to save some bucks. Anyway, it will have been out of the water for 48 hours by the time I am able to do anything with it.

I assume its now uncured live rock. Do I clean it and put it into the newly setup aquarium or what? I figure I can cycle the tank with this rock while its curing.

Am I wrong or what? Just thought I would ask you guys before I messed up or wasted a bunch of time..

Thanks, Semo..

Semo, you have the right idea, the dieoff from the transit will start your cycle and get it going.

How many lbs did you order Semo? Have you had a chance to look over the rock yet? Find anything interesting?

I will try to get up the nerve to post something. I am ashamed of my DIY projects. Things usually work out in the end for me I just take the worse road possible to get there it seems.

This project is going to be elcheapo style. I made some bad decesions in picking corals when starting my nanocube and now the hydnopora, hammer and frogspawn don't agree on how to stay in thier own space. The xenia is controllable with scissors, but mainly, I need and want more room.

I was given the tank and stand just to get it out of thier way. A co-worker had a pendant halide malfunction and he just gave me the ballast and 2 month old bulb.

I have been slowly gathering parts and I am getting closer to getting it ready. Next on list is some sort of canopy..

I ordered 30 lbs. but only 20 is mine. I looked it over, but really don't know much of what to look for. I am stuck at work and cant get away to get the rocks wet again. Guess a few more hours in the shipping box cant hurt. The rocks did have some small spots with corraline, but not much to brag about. Some dying algae or something along those lines. I was really suprised of what I got for the price.

It ended up costing me 2.98 a lb after freight, so thats huge discount from LFS around here.

I ordered my rock from a man on Ebay as well, and was impressed with not only the quality of the rock but the price as well.
