I'm in Orange County, Live in Yorba Linda and work in Irvine. Anyone know of some really good LFS's. Two that I've found and really like are:

Fish 2000 (name is changing to Puppies and Guppies or Guppies and Puppies, they haven't officially made the change.) - Tustin. The store has been around a while but is under new ownership. Really cool couple. He loves Fish and she loves dogs. Very clean well taken care of store.

Window to the sea. - Tustin. The owner seams really knowledgable and his store is very clean. Not as outgoing as the store mentioned above.

anyone else from the OC please let me know of other stores in the area, I'd greatly appreciate it. Especially in Yorba Linda or Anaheim. Somewhere closer to home.

Thanks.

Funny you mentioned those two... I went to both of them on Sat to check them out! I thought windo to the sea was so-so. I had been to Fish 2000 a couple years back and it was a TON better back then. Now it is not much at all although they were friendly and clean.

I thkn I will be going to Window to the Sea more often just because they sell Scripps saltwater. Great water and not the easiest to find around here.

Normally i go to Coral Oasis by John Wayne Airport (www.coraloasis.com), but my new favorite store is OC Aquatics (www.ocaquatics.com) They will soon be THE BEST place in OC for coral frags. They have 4-5 good-sized tank dedicated to coral frags, great prices and the best colors/varieties. It is actually run by a couple members over at nano-reef.com. There is a place that I cant remeber the name of but their site is www.aquadesignz.com.. pretty cool place.

There are a ton of other stores... we should meet up. I can take you on a daytrip of LFS's!! LOL

the Coral Oasis is right next to my chiropractor. I'll have to stop by there. The other two you mentioned, their websites weren't working. OC aquatics was a swim school in florida. strange. the otherone just didn't come up.

Thanks for the reply and sugestions of LFS. The stores I've been going to don't have much of a selection for Anenomies and what not. I've just recently figured out what a frag is so now I'll be paying more attention to them.

What's the benefit of scripps saltwater?

Sorry... here are the correct sites

1) http://www.ocaquatic.com/

2) http://www.aquadesignz.com/

3) http://www.thereefroom.com/ ... this place is in Dana Point. Kinda small but great corals, very clean, nice place.

Dont forget some online stores too.

1) www.marinedepot.com ... great site for dry goods located across the street from Anaheim Stadium and allow local pick up.

2) www.reefermadness.us ... never been there but I have heard goo things. Located in Torrance. I believe they have a storefront.

3) www.reefgeek.com ... My ULTIMATE FAVORITE place to do business with... mostly lighting stuff although they carry various other things too. Allow local pickup.

The Scripps water (this is all just from my understanding...havent done too much research on this stuff just yet) is RO/DI water that is mixed with a scientifically synthesized salt that is made specifically for the Scripps Oceanic Institute at UCSD. This is where I am probably wrong... I *believe* that it is from their tanks in their research center... again, probably wrong.

Either way...

I have done some small reading on Catalina Water, the major "natural sea water" found at most local fish stores here in So. Cal. only to find out that it appears that it is not "Catalina" water by any means, more like "Long Beach Harbor" water that is filtered. I have been using this stuff since I started the hobby, but will probably shift over to the Scripps water now.

Unfortunately I dont live by UCSD or UCSB or else I could be getting Scripps-grade water FOR FREE! LOL... gotta move..

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. My Algae Bloom is finally settling down. I've been keeping the lights off most of the day. On only for around 4-6 hours in the evening. hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to add something else to the tank. So I need to start shopping.
