i would use a syringe...that is the best way. you want to target the aiptasia. thats why i prefer joe's juice...it comes with the syringe and works like a charm.

Sadie...I actually have the applicator syringe that came with the joes juice. I could send it to you for free if you want to use it.

I have a few of those dastardly little things popping up now in my little reef tank. I'm going to have to start getting rid of them. Some of mine are hard to reach, though. :( Not sure how I could get them.

You're a paramedic?!? Wow! I wish I had the guts to do something that important. I have so much respect and admiration for emergency responders. I could never do it -- I would fall apart all the time.

Hi Sadielynn,

If you wish to use lemon juice, use a syringe and inject the aiptasia's steam with the lemon juice. The tricky part is to target the aiptasia's steam before it retracts.

I have read that it's effective, but really hard to inject them. The Joe's Juice is an easier method, because you don't need to get the needle inside of the anemone. I've had very good results w/ the Joe's Juice product, but never really tried the lemon juice method.

You can do the injection in the tank...neither the lemon juice nor the Joe's Juice will hurt anything but the aiptasia

Wow Sadie, I had no idea there were any other paramedics on the board. Are you a professional or volunteer? I have worked for the county here as a medic for 16 years next month.

The standard joes juice applicator has just a straight plastic tip. I do believe that they offer a 90 degree tip as well...this may be beneficial to your circumstance.

I worked for 15 years doing this I am not in the field now due to blowing both knees out and need a bilat Knee replacement ...But work as a assistant to a dr in surgery , starting IVs ekg interp, resp maint. ect I work next to the nurses and the anesthist
On another note how much lime juice do I need I pulled up 10 ccs of lime juice (this wont hurt not being lemon correct? in other words lime jucie is ok ?) and nailed the flesh and emptied it then followed up with boiling water . For those who can not access syringes and needle go to walmart or any other discount store you can get the "flavor" injectors which will work for a fraction of the price usually around 2 or 3 bucks

i haven't had any in a very long time (hopefully it stays that way!!) but i injected via syringe hot kalk and it killed them outright. i like kalk over other methods cuz i know a little extra ca won't hurt anything, but lemon or lime should have little effect either, maybe a little baking soda to right your alk if you use a lot wouldn't hurt though.
