King Kong and Tears...

So my wife gets a call at work, "babe, we have tickets to see king kong tonight at 8pm".

She was like, do we have to go tonight, I said yep I've been talking about king kong all month and don't want to fight the crowds on friday and theres nothing like seeing a movie on opening night.

Since I purchased tickets on Fandango, I just print the tickets online and walk into the theater.

Then my wife wants nachos and a drink cause she hasnt' eaten, so we get seated and I take off to get two hotdogs a drink and nachos, the hotdogs are for me, but she steals one. :(

She was complaining earlier that her friends said King Kong is boring it's the same thing all over and that if you've seen the first version it's no different.

So she starts to fall asleep in the theather next to me and then when they get the Kongs island she wakes up and she is glued to the screen.

And then at the end of the movie, she is covered in tears, and tells me, "wow what a movie, thanks for taking me honey".

Okay guys this is your chance to see a science fiction movie that will touch the soft side of the gals, and have you rooting for Kong.

You are too funny Sadie, I'll make sure I don't ever send you to the movies with my wife or else both of you will fall asleep and need stretchers to carry you both home.... :) :) :)

If you haven't seen the movie do not read my post:

I saw King Kong and it was a really great movie. It's hard to realize it takes them an hour to even Get to the island. I really love long movies and this one didn't make me think about how long I'd be sitting in that chair.

The director takes a very old thriller and transforms it into a love story with some very pertanent points about the modern world. You have a tropical island filled with beasts of eons past all struggling to survive. Then there is Kong, the last of his kind. All his ancestors/family/society has been killed off and he's all alone. Knowing that apes are social creatures just makes it sad and helps you understand his rage at suddenly fighting hard to survive but having no reason to survive.

All this is happening in the modern world, species pushed to extinction or put on display. The director manages to tell this without actually saying it, just through the cinematography, Peter Jackson ranks up their with Spielberg and I can't wait to see his future work.

All in all, I left being stunned at this retelling of an old story and pretty sad that man in all his misguided wisdom manages to kill off something unique.
